Our Program Overview
A Commitment to Excellence
Our Chinese immersion program at Rainbow Children’s Academy helps children develop bilingual skills from an early age. Each classroom has at least one full-time Chinese teacher to ensure consistent language exposure and support. The balance between Chinese and English instruction gradually shifts as children advance through the programs: for Waddler, the ratio is 90 percent Chinese and 10 percent English; for Toddler, 70 percent Chinese and 30 percent English; for Preschool, 50 percent Chinese and 50 percent English; and for Pre-K and Kindergarten, 20 percent Chinese and 80 percent English.
Our Waddler and Toddler programs focus on life-skill development, while the Preschool and Pre-K programs gradually incorporate academic subjects such as Theme, English, Chinese, and Math. Each class has two 30-minute outdoor play sessions daily—one in the morning and one in the afternoon—with an additional playtime available for children in extended care. Lunch and two snacks are freshly prepared by our on-site cook and feature nutritious Chinese-style meals.

Waddler (12-23 months)
Our teachers focus on essential life skills—such as walking independently, using simple words to communicate, sharing toys, feeding themselves with minimal assistance, and following one-step directions. The Waddler class has a dedicated, sheltered playground, and children are typically taken outside more than twice a day. The lead teacher manages onboard transitions and provides one-on-one support when needed. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:3, and under special circumstances, RCA may accept children younger than 12 months.

Toddler (24-35 months)
Our Toddler Program focuses on building essential life skills. Teachers guide children to eat independently, sleep with minimal assistance, follow one- and two-step directions, and line up for walking. Potty training is a central part of the program. Children also participate in two themed classes each day—one taught by the English teacher and one by the Chinese teacher—which include activities such as arts and crafts. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:5.

Preschool (Age 3)
Each day, our Preschool Program includes three classes—an English class, a Chinese class, and a theme class, each lasting about 30 minutes. The English class focuses on letter recognition and phonics for all 26 letters, both uppercase and lowercase. The theme class introduces a weekly topic that encourages children to develop hands-on skills and explore the world around them. The Chinese class emphasizes 看图说话 (picture-based storytelling), 古诗背诵 (classical poetry recitation), 笔画描红 (stroke tracing), 听故事 (story listening), and 读儿歌 (nursery rhymes reading). The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:10.

Early Elementary (Ages 4-5)
Our Early Elementary daily schedule includes one hour of English (Phonics, vocabulary, handwriting, spelling, reading and grammar), one hour of Math, one hour of Chinese enrichment, 30 minutes of science, arts, social study, music or history and one hour of physical activity. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:10.
